Neighbourhood Watch: Use your eyes, nose and ears!
Atlantic is monitoring their odours, noise and emissions at their facilities but they need our eyes, ears and noses to help them measure improvements in the community. One of the ways they are tracking their progress is on the number of reports they receive from residents. Click here to download an Odour Complaint Form that you can fill out and send to Atlantic Packaging.

If you notice any ‘Atlantic’ odours or noises you should report them to both Atlantic Packaging and the Ministry of Environment right away:

  • The Ministry of Environment by calling 416-326-6700 during regular business hours or calling the hotline anytime at 416-268-6060.  Alternatively, you can email moe.tips.moe@ontario.ca (put address in the TO: field, not CC:).  Be prepared to answer questions about the date and time of the occurence as well as the location, wind direction and a description of the odour or noise. Click here to look at the Odour Description Wheel if you need help describing an odour complaint.

You will be asked to explain how you have been adversely effected by the odour/noise.  An 'adverse effect' in the Environmental Protection Act is defined as experiencing (one or more of) the following while on your property:

    (a) impairment of the quality of the natural environment for any use that can be made of it,
    (b) injury or damage to property or to plant or animal life,
    (c) harm or material discomfort to any person,
    (d) an adverse effect on the health of any person,
    (e) impairment of the safety of any person,
(f ) rendering any property or plant or animal life unfit for human use,
    (g) loss of enjoyment of normal use of property, and
    (h) interference with the normal conduct of business
